At the 2023 General Assembly meeting, which was held last Thursday 18-1-2024 at the N.O.C headquarter, the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation praised Zallaf Libya achievements in terms of plans and projects targeted for the 2023 and the proposed for 2024.

During the meeting, the Chairman and members of Zallaf Management Committee and department managers, the performance indicators and proposed development plans were reviewed, and the most important projects completed by the company were discussed, the most important of which was the localization project for the Zallaf headquarters in the southern region and the South Refinery project, in addition to the project to develop the Al-Atshan and Erawin oil fields.

The members of the Corporation’s Board of Directors and the Chairman and members of the Supervisory Board praised the efforts of all employees of Zallaf Libya, stressing that the company is moving at a steady and increasing pace.

For his part, the Chairman of the Management Committee extended his thanks and gratitude to the Corporation’s Board of Directors for their support and backing of all the company’s plans and programs, stressing that Zallaf will be one of the most prominent contributors to advancing the Corporation’s plan to raise production rates and support the national economy.

Within the strategic plan sponsored by the National Oil Corporation and implemented by Zallaf Libya to localize the company in its founding location in the southern region. Mr. Hussein Abu Sliana, Chairman of the Management Committee of Zallaf Libya, announced the opening of the temporary administrative headquarters of the company in Sabha, where it will gradually carry out its activities until most of its work is localized according to the plan.

This announcement came after the visit of the Chairman of the Management Committee, along with members of the Management Committee, the N.O.C Audit Committee, department managers, and employees, to personally inspect the final preparations for the administrative headquarters, residential sites, administrative and service arrangements regarding the transfer of employees, and the final readiness for the actual work that is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2024.

Upon arrival, the Management Committee immediately visited the administrative building and the guesthouse to oversee the final arrangements.

The Chairman and members of the Management Committee praised the valuable achievements made by everyone, despite the difficult circumstances and in record time, to achieve this important step in the company’s history.

It is worth mentioning that the first group of company employees targeted to work from the temporary administrative headquarters, led by department managers and offices, arrived in Sabha to carry out their work from the new headquarters starting from January 1, 2024.

Zallaf with the support of the National Oil Corporation is seeking to implement its plan to establish the main and official administrative complex for the company and will spare no effort to achieve this entitlement.

The Operations Manager Department of Zallaf Libya has confirmed that the crude oil production from the Erawin field has exceeded one million barrels cumulative on Saturday, December 23, 2023.

It is noteworthy that Zallaf Company launched the early production plan project at the end of March 2023, which is used for the first time in oil sites in Libya, by transporting the crude oil via tankers from the Erawin field to the Sharara field.

The Operations and Maintenance manager at Zallaf Libya confirmed in a statement , that the first shipment of the company’s production from the Erawin field was exported through the port of Zawiya last Tuesday, November 14, 2023, and was estimated at about 600,000 barrels of Zallaf crude oil, the production operations of which began in Last March, as part of the early production plan from the wells of the Erawin oil field, affiliated with the Zallaf Libya.

The Chairman of the Management Committee praised all the efforts made for the success of the plan and reaching this achievement, which exceeded all expectations.

He also extended his sincere thanks to the Management Committee and all the employees of Akakus Oil Operations Company for their unlimited cooperation with Zallaf, as the production of the Erawin field is exported through the Sharara field of Akakus Company.

He also thanked Al-Jouf Petroleum Technologies Company and Petex Company, which were contracted to implement this project.

The production of the Erawin field began at a rate of 3,000 barrels per day last April, reaching a rate of 6,000 barrels per day this November.

Within the framework of Zallaf Company’s implementation of its exploratory activities in the Al-Atshan field in the exploration block (M.N. 151) Ghadames Basin, to support the strategic plan of the N.O.C to increase the Libyan state’s oil and gas reserves, in addition to increasing production of natural gas to support the local gas network and raising Gas export rates to the global market. Zallaf achieved unprecedented results from the exploratory well (W2-Mn 151) in the Pertlaxen formation (Upper Ordovician), where the well’s production rate reached 20 million cubic feet of natural gas per day through the 64/64 choke. inch. The results of this test reflect the intensified efforts and teamwork carried out by the Zallaf Company team from various departments.

It is worth noting that the exploratory wells previously drilled by various international companies in block (M.N. 151) did not achieve these rates despite the similarity of geological and reservoir factors. However, with the grace of God, then the successful selection of the site for drilling the well, which was based on the accuracy of the models. The geological and reservoir fields were built with national engineers and specialists. The drilling team of engineers and technicians also contributed to achieving these results through the successful selection of the high-quality drilling fluid in maintaining the stability of the well and ensuring the minimum amount of drilling fluid leaching and thus reducing the damage factor in the targeted layers. In addition to the success of the team in the naming operations that were conducted to isolate the water-producing layers without causing any damage or harm to the productive layers.

Zallaf Launches Second Phase of Training Project for 60 Technicians

Zallaf, a subsidiary of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), has launched the second phase of its training project for 60 technicians from the southern region. The project, hosted by the Sharara Center for Training and Business Development, includes practical training in various specializations, including health, safety, security, the environment, electricity, solar energy welding, air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical turning.

The training course began with theoretical lectures for six weeks in its first phase. The second phase, which started on May 14, 2023, focuses on practical applications. The trainees will receive training from certified trainers and highly qualified specialists.

Launching the second phase of the training project is a significant step in NOC’s efforts to develop the skills of its workforce and promote sustainable development. The project will help ensure that NOC has a skilled and qualified workforce to meet future challenges.

March 29, 2023, Zallaf Company officially started the production operations within the alternative plan, early production (EPF) from Erawin field, at a rate of 3,000 barrels per day.

The launch of the operation was attended by the chairman and members of the management committee, the Operations Department manager of Akakus Company, Mr. Director of Production Department at the National Oil Corporation, and a number of department managers and employees in the field.

the plan is for transporting crude oil by tankers at a rate of 12 trips per day from the production tanks in the Erawin field to the surface treatment unit in the Sharara field of the Akakus Oil Operations.

It is noteworthy that the production rates of the Erawin field reach more than 16,000 bpd in the event that all wells and  pipeline linking Erawin and Sharara are ready.

This step comes in response to the National Oil Corporation’s policy of reaching production rates of approximately 2 million bpd, in the near future.

On March 26, 2023, at Zallaf Libya headquarters, a ceremony for signing the first contracts for the construction of the South Refinery took place between Zallaf Libya and our American counterpart Honeywell-UOP company.

The ceremony attendees included Mr Hussien Abuseliana, the Chairman of Zallaf, Mr Muhammad Al-Muheisen, the regional manager of Honeywell – UOP and other members of the Management Committee from both parties. This contract stipulates that “Honey Well – UOP” will conduct the initial engineering works refining units and grant technical licenses to the licensed units.

The project consists of two phases: 

Consequently, this step comes among other efforts within the new vision adopted by the National Oil Corporation and the promises made by the NOC’s Chairman of the Board of Directors to expedite the establishment of the South Refinery and assist in the development of the south region.

January 16, 2023, Mr. Abdulhafed Abuaen, MMC for Operations and Drilling, accompanied by Mr. Isam Shibani, MMC for Exploration and Production, conducted a site visit to the Disa field to follow up and review the latest developments of the drilling operations at the site.

The delegates were accompanied by a number of specialists from the exploration, drilling, health, safety and environment departments, as well as Mr. Mohamed Hussein, MMC for operations at the National Company for Drilling and Maintenance.

The visit included a field tour of the National Drilling Rig No. 8, which is working on drilling exploratory well No. A1- 146/3 (NC174) Al-Disa in the Murzuq Basin to ensure the commitments to the health, safety and environmental systems & policy of Zallaf Company and the N.O.C during the drilling operations and to review the quality of services and materials provided by service companies, directions were given to improve the drilling performance to reach better results after discussing the obstacles and difficulties that impede the progress of operations at the site.

This visit comes within the framework of following up the company’s strategic projects and how are the plans been implemented as scheduled.

 January-2 -2023 the Chairman and members of the Management Committee and department managers of Zallaf Libya made an inspection visit to Sabha city, where the delegation went, upon their arrival at Sabha Airport, to inspect the proposed temporary headquarters building for Zallaf and the residential buildings for the employees. They also inspected the land allocated to Zallaf Company where to build the main headquarter in the southern region, in implementation of the decision of the President of the National Oil Corporation No. 83,

The first meeting of the Management Committee for the year 2023, was held in the meeting hall of the Zallaf’s office in Sabha, At the “Sharara Training Center”, where many topics discussed, foremost of which is the settlement of Zallaf’s headquarters in the southern region.

During the visit, the Chairman and members of the Management Committee held a series of important meetings, including a meeting with Sabha Military Region Command to discuss ways to secure the company’s sites, and a meeting with the Director of the Sharara Center for Training and Development to discuss the implementation of the second phase project of training 60 technicians from the southern region.

 Another meeting was held with academics, experts, university and college presidents, and faculty members from the southern regions, to discuss ways for Zallaf’s participation in supporting and improving the environment and sustainable development.

This visit comes within the framework of Zallaf Company’s effort to confirm its seriousness in implementing the draft decision to resettle the company’s headquarters and to follow up on all plans and projects set by the company for the development of the cities of the south according to the policy set by the National Oil Corporation.
