Zallaf and Honeywell-UOP Sign the contract to begin construction of the South Refinery.

On March 26, 2023, at Zallaf Libya headquarters, a ceremony for signing the first contracts for the construction of the South Refinery took place between Zallaf Libya and our American counterpart Honeywell-UOP company.

The ceremony attendees included Mr Hussien Abuseliana, the Chairman of Zallaf, Mr Muhammad Al-Muheisen, the regional manager of Honeywell – UOP and other members of the Management Committee from both parties. This contract stipulates that “Honey Well – UOP” will conduct the initial engineering works refining units and grant technical licenses to the licensed units.

The project consists of two phases: 

Phase 1: is the phase of what is known as (FEED), for which an initial contract has already been signed with Honeywell – UOP, while 

Phase 2: will focus on signing another contract to carry out installation works and final tests for the refinery, provided that the company works Honeywell later supervises the installation process.

Consequently, this step comes among other efforts within the new vision adopted by the National Oil Corporation and the promises made by the NOC’s Chairman of the Board of Directors to expedite the establishment of the South Refinery and assist in the development of the south region.

A Site visit to Al- Disa field in Murzuq Basin

January 16, 2023, Mr. Abdulhafed Abuaen, MMC for Operations and Drilling, accompanied by Mr. Isam Shibani, MMC for Exploration and Production, conducted a site visit to the Disa field to follow up and review the latest developments of the drilling operations at the site.

The delegates were accompanied by a number of specialists from the exploration, drilling, health, safety and environment departments, as well as Mr. Mohamed Hussein, MMC for operations at the National Company for Drilling and Maintenance.

The visit included a field tour of the National Drilling Rig No. 8, which is working on drilling exploratory well No. A1- 146/3 (NC174) Al-Disa in the Murzuq Basin to ensure the commitments to the health, safety and environmental systems & policy of Zallaf Company and the N.O.C during the drilling operations and to review the quality of services and materials provided by service companies, directions were given to improve the drilling performance to reach better results after discussing the obstacles and difficulties that impede the progress of operations at the site.

This visit comes within the framework of following up the company’s strategic projects and how are the plans been implemented as scheduled.

Zallaf Management Committee on an inspection visit to Sabha city

 January-2 -2023 the Chairman and members of the Management Committee and department managers of Zallaf Libya made an inspection visit to Sabha city, where the delegation went, upon their arrival at Sabha Airport, to inspect the proposed temporary headquarters building for Zallaf and the residential buildings for the employees. They also inspected the land allocated to Zallaf Company where to build the main headquarter in the southern region, in implementation of the decision of the President of the National Oil Corporation No. 83,

The first meeting of the Management Committee for the year 2023, was held in the meeting hall of the Zallaf’s office in Sabha, At the “Sharara Training Center”, where many topics discussed, foremost of which is the settlement of Zallaf’s headquarters in the southern region.

During the visit, the Chairman and members of the Management Committee held a series of important meetings, including a meeting with Sabha Military Region Command to discuss ways to secure the company’s sites, and a meeting with the Director of the Sharara Center for Training and Development to discuss the implementation of the second phase project of training 60 technicians from the southern region.

 Another meeting was held with academics, experts, university and college presidents, and faculty members from the southern regions, to discuss ways for Zallaf’s participation in supporting and improving the environment and sustainable development.

This visit comes within the framework of Zallaf Company’s effort to confirm its seriousness in implementing the draft decision to resettle the company’s headquarters and to follow up on all plans and projects set by the company for the development of the cities of the south according to the policy set by the National Oil Corporation.

Completion of drilling operations for the well B8 in Al-Atshan is ongoing

The Drilling Department Manager at Zallaf Libya, Eng. Issam Al-Shaibani, stated that the drilling operations are proceeding according to the schedule prepared for that and without any obstacles or problems.

Mr. Al-Shaibani added during the management committee’s tour to the field on Wednesday, 19-10-2022, that it is expected that drilling of this well will be completed within a week, after which the testing process will begin, which extends for a period of three weeks, and then the rig will move to drill the well B09.

Following up on the progress of the activities and pushing up for drilling and the operations associated, Mr. Chairman, the members of the management committee and a number of department managers of Zallaf Libya, accompanied by the Director of the Exploration Department at the National Oil Corporation, headed Wednesday morning to the Al- Atshan field, in order to find out the latest developments in the ongoing drilling operations on the well. B08 carried out by the National Drilling Company.

 Among the visit program, visiting the force in charge of protecting the field, which they confirmed that the security situation of the field is excellent and no penetration or threat to the site has been recorded since the force received the task of protection.

The Chairman and members of the Management Committee held a meeting with the field staff from different departments, discussing the observations and needs to insure providing them to carry out their tasks in the required manner.

A field survey for the Al-Atshan field airstrip

As part of the preparations that Zallaf Company is making to start drilling operations in the Al-Atshan field beginning of September, a team from the Civil Aviation Authority conducted an inspection visit to the Al-Atshan field last Saturday 27th of August, to inspect the runway after the completion of the maintenance and preparation work, accompanied by general services department manager, H.S.E members and the Project Coordinator.

Petro air plane had landed at the Al-Atshan field airstrip on Saturday morning, and the team toured around the runway and took notes in terms of safety procedures and the condition of the runway. And back to Maitiqa Airport in After the mission completed.

Announcing the launch of the Zallaf localization project in the south

The Chairman of the Management Committee announced on Thursday, August 11, in a meeting with the members of the Management Committee and the Director of Zallaf office in Sabha, the project to settle the Zallaf Libya Company in the southern region.

The meeting discussed the mechanism of transferring departments and the timetable for moving the company to its headquarters in Sabha.

The director of Sabha office, Mr. Mohamed Galma was assigned to head the project in coordination with the Office of Sustainable Development to prepare an integrated plan for approval and start the practical procedures for the transfer in a gradual and orderly manner.

These recommendations come in light of the efforts of Zallaf Company to implement the article related to the company’s headquarters, as stated in the incorporation decision issued in 2013.

Completion of the preparation for the drilling operations in the Al-Atshan field

A source from the Drilling Department of Zallaf Libya Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company stated that the NWD-50 rig is fully ready to start drilling operations in the AL-Atshan concession.

The source added that the drilling rig obtained the required permissions after the completion of the detection and inspection process by the competent company.

It is noteworthy that the rig of the National Company for Well Drilling will start its operations on  NC-151 / B8 during  August 2022.

The Petroleum Facilities Guard in the Al-Atshan field receives the residential camp on the site

A team from the general Services, Engineering & Projects, Health, Safety and Environment, and the Sustainable Development Departments of Zallaf Libya, handed over the residential camp for the Petroleum Facilities Guard at the Al-Atshan site.

The residential camp can accommodate 40 people and includes many rooms fully equipped with all amenities.

The ceremony handing over was attended by the commander of the Protection Unit in the Al-Atshan field, the chairman of the board of directors of the executing company, in addition to the Zallaf company team.

This step comes as part of preparations to start drilling operations at the Atshan site in the coming weeks.

3,000 barrels is expected of Erawin field plan

The Operations Department Manager of Zallaf Libya Eng., Abubaker Tlaiba, stated that the company has developed a plan to start testing and producing from two wells with an expected production of 3000 barrels per day from the Erawin field soon, after obtaining the technical approvals and budget from the N.O.C.

The plane is to transport the quantity by using special tanks to the site of the surface treatment equipment in the Sharara oil field.

This process will continue until the processing plant is equipped in the Erawin field and the completion of the installation of the pipeline linking Erawin and the Sharara field.
